Based on beliefs from Traditional Chinese Medicine, the complexion reflects the body's internal balance and health. As a specialized branch of acupuncture, cosmetic or facial acupuncture focuses on the face and neck to reduce wrinkles and improve skin tone. This approach involves the insertion of fine needles (usually between 50-100 needles depending on concerns and the areas being targeted) to increase blood circulation to the skin. Enhanced blood flow brings vital nutrients and fresh oxygen to the needled areas, supporting cell regeneration and improving overall skin tone and glow. The needles penetrate below the epidermis into the upper dermis layer stimulating fibroblasts, the cells which produce collagen.
